‘Forgreninger’
‘Branching’, 2002-2003
The series ‘Forgreninger’ (Branching) came about in 2002(3) as a result of reflections on the course of life. A wonder about all of the coincidences that have led to each of us existing. Random meetings, random encounters, random seperations, random accidents; the randomness in which generations upon generations are connected, or a branch on which the family stops.
Roots branch, trees and bushes branch, roads branch, computers branch, our veins branch, our thoughts branch - almost at random.
However, there are moments when everything seems meticulously planned, since all coincidences are meaningful and all of life is interconnected. Hence “the logic of randomness”.
Particles at Work
2004-2005
This series is a progression of ‘Forgreninger’. Inspiration for the theme came from a statement from actor and playwright Jean-Claude Carriere in the book ‘Conversations About The End of Time’:
"… scientists noticed the following: Everything is wiped away with time, with one exception: basic particles. … As things stand today the basic particles do not change … no one has ever seen an electron or neutron cease to exist. As soon as a complex form is obsolete, as soon as an object has served its purpose, the particles of which it consisted are released and embark on a new adventure, to function as part of new objects.”
The longing for eternity.
The understanding that all of eternity is in everything that exists in every neutron and electron. By subjecting this knowledge to imagination ‘Particles at Work’ was born from a insight into the mystery of the universe. Eternity exist within us while at the same time we are only a perishable part of the whole.
A voyage into the smallest and out into the grandest.
